Final Post

I just want to say that this is my final post. Doing this blog was a great opportunity to reflect on art. I learned a lot about myself and how much I actually do enjoy the arts!

HI, Josie. I have now reviewed all of your posts and I will put an overview comment here. I will also send a personalized rubric and your grade by email when I have completed reviewing all of the blogs.

Your blog is alive with photos and videos and the diversity of topics that you chose. You have about 16 posts in which you present arts activities or experiences and relate them to plans for the classroom. You shared specific lesson plans for vanishing point art and woven pumpkins. You showed that you draw on your own background, such as your musical history and your military heritage, to understand how teachers can structure lessons to help students create personal meaning in the classroom. You’ve thought carefully about some of the issues we touched on in class, e.g. assessment in the arts, and you’ve shown a willingness to try a new approach and be open to learning from student responses. You’ve shared wonderful resources such as the Canada in My Pocket song and the Vancouver Art Gallery site for Emily Carr. I hope you can find time to continue to develop your own visual art experiences, even through examples you create for student lessons. I admire your courage in setting goals for drama in the classroom when drama has made you feel anxious. I would like your permission to keep your blog linked to mine as an example for students next year. Thanks for all your contributions to our class and have a happy holiday!
